Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to organisers, trustees, adjudicators, volunteers, students and anyone working on behalf of Étoile Forum or supporting its activities.
- The welfare of children and young people is paramount.
- Every child is entitled to equal protection from harm or abuse.
- Children, parents, carers, teachers and relevant agencies should work together where needed.
Safe environment
Étoile Forum is organised with safeguarding in mind. Policies are shared with parents, carers and teachers, and venues are hired for events. The event organisers remain responsible for the activity taking place within their programme.
Personnel and volunteers
Personnel with supervisory or one-to-one contact with children may be required to complete DBS checks. Volunteers are expected to understand the safeguarding expectations and follow the event procedures at all times.
Performance, changing and common areas
Parents, teachers or licensed chaperones remain responsible for supervising children in changing rooms, toilets, warm-up areas and other non-performance spaces. Event staff focus on the safe running of stage and performance areas.
Photography and video
Audience photography and video during performances may be restricted. Official photographers or videographers may be used, and adults are responsible for communicating if a child should not be included in images or recordings.
Data protection
Personal data is handled carefully and in line with data protection expectations. Information is used for event administration, safeguarding, communication and safe participation.
