Pre-School Ballet at Ballet Academy Cymru

A magical first step into ballet

Pre-School Ballet at Ballet Academy Cymru gives young children a joyful and supportive introduction to dance. Classes are designed for little dancers aged 3–8 and combine ballet foundations with imagination, storytelling, rhythm and creative movement. Children learn through play, music and carefully guided exercises, making each class feel exciting, welcoming and age appropriate.

Creative Practice for young learners

The programme introduces children to movement in a way that feels natural and enjoyable. They may imagine travelling through different worlds, moving like animals, floating through space or dancing with different musical qualities. Through these activities, children develop balance, coordination, posture, listening skills and confidence. The class also helps children learn how to follow instructions, take turns and feel comfortable in a group.

Confidence, friendships and fun

For many children, Pre-School Ballet is their first experience of a structured class. Our approach is patient, kind and encouraging, helping every child feel safe enough to take part and express themselves. Some children begin quietly and gradually grow in confidence; others love joining in straight away. Both are welcomed. The aim is to help each child enjoy movement, make new friends and develop positive early memories of dance.

A foundation for future training

While the atmosphere is playful, the class also introduces important foundations for future ballet training. Children begin to understand posture, musical timing, use of space, simple ballet shapes and the discipline of class. These early skills can prepare them beautifully for future ballet grades, creative dance, performance opportunities and further study. Most importantly, Pre-School Ballet helps children discover that dance can be joyful, expressive and full of possibility.
